Canton: Langermann’s

Update: Langermann’s is now closed.

Previously I had been to Langermann’s on Light for dinner and loved it. My friend and I already had plans to be in Canton that morning so we decided to check out the brunch options over there. I remembered hearing that the Langermann’s in Canton is better than the one in Federal Hill so we headed over there. They describe their cuisine as ‘low-country‘ and from looking at the menu, it is obvious that the place is southern inspired.

Langermann’s is located in the Can Company building which has a lot of history.

We were seated immediately and our waiter Ezra was very attentive. He constantly was checking on us to make sure we were okay and refilling our glasses. After we placed our order, he came out with a bread basket that had corn bread and biscuits. This was great and gave the meal a nice country feel.

My friend could not decide what she wanted to eat so she ordered a bunch of sides instead of a traditional dish. The first side she ordered was bacon. It was very crispy, and it’s bacon, so what’s not to love?

She also ordered the Piece of French Toast which she wasn’t too fond of. It was made with raisin bread and it had way too many raisins for her liking. If you’re a raisin lover, this may be the French Toast for you!

She also had a side of Home Fries which she enjoyed. The potatoes were seasoned nicely and cooked well.

Lastly, she ordered a Pancake. It was topped with cinnamon apple slices and she loved this. It was light and fluffy. Everything a pancake should be!

I’m a fan of eggs in the morning so I decided to order one of their skillet scrambles, the Joe’s Special. The dish came with ground beef, onions, and spinach scrambled together. I’ve never had ground beef in my eggs and I really liked this.

The skillet scrambles come with a side of Grits. I happen to love Grits, I ordered the Brown Sugar Grits which were sweet and creamy and probably some of the best grits I have ever had.
