When I heard that a new coffee shop opened up in Mount Vernon, I didn’t think much of it. While I love a good cup of coffee as much as the next person, I was certainly in no rush to try Dooby’s. However, once I read the Baltimore Magazine’s review of Dooby’s, I knew I needed to give the place a try.
I had read online about their ramen night, and while that sounds delicious, I knew the best time to try Dooby’s was for a regular meal and then go back for the special nights.
For lunch one day I was craving a sandwich and a nice cup of coffee and knew that Dooby’s was where we should go. We ordered our meal at the counter and then sat down while waiting for our name to be called. It turns out that our sandwiches came with a Side Salad so we each started off lunch with that. The salad was basic, but still good. The lettuce was fresh and the dressing was nice and light, the perfect starter for any meal.
My friend ordered the Cambodian Chicken Salad which she loved. The chicken salad didn’t have too much mayo so it was nice and light. The bread it was served on was nice and fresh. Because the sandwich came with a salad she took half of it home for the following day and even the next day said it still tasted great. Because the sandwich wasn’t slathered with mayo it didn’t get soggy.
For my meal, based on the recommendation of the girl who took my order, I decided on the Korean BBQ Cheesesteak, and I’m glad I did. For starters this isn’t a typical dish on a menu so I found that alluring. On the baguette is thinly sliced steak, kimchi and cheddar cheese. It was so good that I can’t wait to go back and order it again.

Because Dooby’s is a coffee shop, we had to order a cup while we were there. I ordered the Vanilla Latte and it had latte art which is something that I find fascinating. The latte was enjoyable though and the atmosphere inside Dooby’s is cute so this is a place I’d consider visiting just for the coffee.
My friend got a look inside of the dessert case and decided to order the Fruity Pebble Cookie. The cookie was great, it was chewy and sweet and everything you’d expect from a cookie with your favorite breakfast cereal in it.

In short, we had a wonderful experience at Dooby’s and the food was outstanding. I can’t wait to go back and try some more of their offerings.
