On the corner of Hanover and Heath street, there’s a bar called No Idea with a sign that says “Where were you last night? No Idea!” I happen to find this to be one of the most clever bar names out there. My friend and I were craving tater tots and just some good, greasy bar food. A quick Foursquare search showed that the closest place to me serving tater tots was No Idea Tavern so we headed over.
It was a Tuesday evening, so as we expected the bar was mostly empty but that didn’t stop us from satisfying our tater tot craving.
We already knew we wanted tater tots, so we placed an order right away. These tots, were awesome. The actual tot itself was probably your standard frozen tot thrown in the fryer, but they were topped with cheddar sauce, bacon and sour cream (YUM!) We devoured these and regretted not just ordering two orders of this and nothing else. They were delicious.
For our main course, my friend ordered the ever-faithful Buffalo Chicken Wrap. There was tons of meaty fried chicken, buffalo sauce and creamy ranch. It reminded her of the wonderful buffalo chicken wrap at Red Star Bar and Grill.
For my meal, I ordered the Chicken Cheesesteak. The cheesesteak came topped with American cheese or wiz, I opted for the American cheese and I’m happy I did. The cheese melted perfectly onto the thinly sliced chicken and it was great. I’ve never been to Philly, I’d hardly consider myself to be a cheesesteak expert, but this was delicious. Next time I’m craving a simple cheesesteak, I’d totally head over to No Idea.
Seriously, those tater tots were some of the best I’ve ever had, but everything else we ordered was delicious too. Even though the service was a little on the slower side, I’d go back there in an instant.
No Idea Tavern is located at 1649 S Hanover St., Fed Hill, Baltimore.
