When I was living in Towson, one of my favorite spots was Atwater’s on Falls Road. The sandwiches there were great, the salads were awesome and I loved their breakfast options. Plus, their latte’s had foam designs or latte art which I’m super fond of. When I found out that Atwater’s was opening a location in Canton I was stoked. Not only do I love their food but they make a great cup of coffee as well and some great ice cream.
One of my friends was visiting from California and we were meeting for lunch, I suggested heading over to Canton because I hadn’t been to the new Atwater’s yet.
The first thing you notice when you enter, is that this location is much nicer than all of the other ones. There’s a hostess to bring you to a table and they serve beer as well as ice cream. Talk about an improvement from a corner sandwich spot to a full blown lunch destination.
We started by each ordering a drink. My friend ordered the Raspberry Iced Tea which she said packed a lot of flavor and was refreshing on the warm day we were having.
I, on the other hand ordered a Vanilla Latte. Atwater’s brews Counter Culture Coffee which is my favorite, and the latte art just gets me everytime. I think it’s awesome. The latte here is exceptional and it’s near impossible for me to walk into an Atwater’s without ordering one.
For our lunches, my friend went with the healthier option and ordered the Mediterranean Salad. The salad came with baby romaine, marinated feta, white beans, olives, cucumber, toasted sunflower seeds and lemon tahini dressing. My friend loved this salad and found it to be extremely flavorful.
I ordered the Roast Beef Sandwich. The sandwich was roast beef, creamy horseradish spread, onion and lettuce on white bread. The sandwich was overstuffed with roast beef, however I found the meat to be a little dry and overcooked. I’m used to a more rare roast beef. Additionally, there was way too much horseradish spread and it had an almost yogurt-like consistency. I’m not positive that I would order this particular sandwich again.
Despite the fact that I didn’t love what I ordered, I would still come back for another meal. All of their food is locally sourced and in the past I’ve loved everything I’ve ordered from there. In addition, this location is a little more upscale and crosses the line of just a cafe into a restaurant.
This location also serves delicious ice cream if you’re looking for a sweet treat after your meal.
Atwater’s is located at 3601 Boston Street, in Canton.
