A few of my friends live in Towson and when we’re looking to grab a quick bite to eat, the options can be limited. Fortunately, Cunningham’s Cafe & Bakery recently opened by the Bagby Restaurant Group, is located right in the heart of downtown Towson and it’s the perfect place to grab a bite to eat. Bagby Restaurant Group owns a few restaurants in Baltimore, the others are Cunningham’s inTowson and Ten Ten American Bistro, Fleet Street Kitchen and Bagby Pizza Co. in Harbor East. I’ve been to Bagby Pizza Co and it was great so I had high hopes for Cunningham’s Cafe & Bakery.
Fortunately when my friends and I went, the weather was beautiful and we were able to enjoy a meal outside.
We each ordered a sandwich, my friend ordered the Powerhouse and it came with hummus, goat cheese, carrots, cucumber, avocado, red onion and roasted peppers on multigrain bread. My friend liked this, she said all of the ingredients were very fresh and it was nice to be eating something healthy.
My other friend decided to go with the Roasted Turkey with Bacon. The sandwich had tomato jam, baby lettuce and barbecue mayo on multigrain bread. She loved this sandwich and said everything was very fresh and tasty, but there was nothing particularly memorable about this sandwich.
One of my favorite sandwiches is the Braised Brisket Sandwich from By Degrees Cafe so I was hoping to order something along those lines. I ended up ordering the House Roast Beef Boursin. It had onion, tomato, horseradish aioli and roast beef on ciabatta bread. The sandwich was good, but I was expecting more of a slow cooked brisket sandwich as opposed to almost brisket deli meat.
While the sandwiches at Cunningham’s Cafe & Bakery in Towson are delicious, they’re not mind-blowingly innovative. I would gladly return to try some more of their delicious options.
Cunningham’s Cafe & Bakery is located at 1 Olympic Place, in Towson.
