Mount Vernon: Milk and Honey Market

Update – Milk and Honey is now closed

Since I’ve been living in Baltimore, I have been trying to explore all that the city has to offer. That extends to upscale restaurants and cute little corner cafes. Walks through the city as well as Yelp and Foursquare have helped me create a list of where to go. I’ve also been using my city dining cards as a guide to help me rediscover old favorites and new ones such as Milk and Honey Market in Mount Vernon.

It was my city dining cards that lead me towards Milk and Honey Market in Mount Vernon on a particular Saturday afternoon. But once I was there I fell in love.

I decided to buy a sandwich while I was there, the Roast Beef Sandwich sounded awesome so I decided to try it. It was fresh Roast beef, caramelized onion, mustard seed mayonnaise, and fresh arugula on toasted rosemary foccacia bread. This bread was out of this world amazing. The sandwich was great as a whole but it was really the bread that elevated it to another level.

In order to reach the $30 limit to use my dining card, I also picked up a few things from the market. In the market they sell fresh produce, cheese, some meat and local favorites like Taharka Brothers Ice Cream. I did get a little of everything and two pints of ice cream.

Normally I wouldn’t head all the way to Mount Vernon for some light grocery shopping. But that sandwich was amazing and I don’t know where else sells Taharka Brothers Ice Cream by the pint near my apartment.
