Some friends and I were out in Canton and really craving pad thai, I had been to Shiso Tavern on the Canton square before and I know they have excellent sushi as well as other Asian delicacies (such as pad thai) so I suggested we head over there.
We started our meal with an order of the Vegetable Spring Rolls. We were served four spring rolls with dipping sauce. The spring rolls were good and a great way to start off a meal, but nothing particularly special.
We also decided to share an order of the Sushi Nachos. The sushi nachos were sliced tuna tataki, avocado, spicy salmon, micro cilantro on a crispy wonton wrapper. These were delicious, the fish was fresh and all the ingredients combined together nicely to create a unique dish.
One of my friends ordered the Chicken Fried Rice. The chicken was tender and the dish was packed with a lot of veggies giving it a lot of flavor. My friend really enjoyed this dish and fortunately it was large enough to allow her to have leftovers for the following day.
The real reason I wanted to go to Shiso Tavern was for the pad thai. So, I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai, with extra heat and I was not disappointed. The chefs threw in some extra spicy peppers that really elevated this dish for me, the flavors were complex with tender hunks of chicken, veggies and a nice spice that I crave.
