Delivery: Banditos

Disclaimer – OrderUp provided me with a $30 credit to try out their services but all views stated here are my own.

One of my favorite Mexican spots in Baltimore is Banditos. It was the first place I reviewed on this blog and recently they revamped their menu. When I heard OrderUp is now available in Baltimore and bringing delivery from all of my favorite restaurants to my door, I was more than excited. On one of those super cold rainy evenings we have been having, my roommate and I were craving Banditos, but didn’t have the desire to head over to the restaurant so we decided to try out OrderUp.

The website interface is incredibly easy to figure out. You’re given a list of restaurants that deliver to your current address and then you select a restaurant and are given access to their menu. After looking over the menu and picking out what you want to eat, you enter your credit card information, receive an email confirmation and wait.

Our meal took about 30 minutes to arrive which is standard for delivery. When the food came, the delivery man was super friendly which is always a nice bonus!

We started a meal with the order of Chips and Guac. Banditos has delicious chips and guac is one of my favorite things, also it can withstand delivery well so we were very pleased with this.

We also shared an order of the Mexi Fry which is new to their menu. These were delicious sweet potato fries topped with chorizo, Oaxaca, and salsa roja. French fries topped with things are among my favorite things. (Fork & Wrench has got that down.) These were delicious, but probably significantly better when eaten in the restaurant. French fries don’t travel well and arrived a little soggy, and it didn’t help that there were toppings piled on top. But we still loved this.

We also decided to try an order of the Tequila Honey Wings. The sauce was a little thin on these and they didn’t quite compare to the fabulous ones we’ve loved at Delia Foley’s, but they were still cooked well and the sauce was tasty. We just wanted it to stick to the chicken a little better.

Lastly, we went with an order of the Street Steak Tacos. The taco came with griddled onions, guacamole, pico & chimichurri. The taco was the biggest disappointment. Something happened in the delivery process andit arrived cold. It wasn’t bad (which obviously speaks volumes about how wonderful their food is) but it wasn’t as good as the tacos are at the restaurant.
