In Federal Hill, a specialty French Fry shop opened up recently called The Local Fry. This place specializes in french fries – could there possibly be anything better?! Since I heard about The Local Fry, I’ve been looking forward to trying it. French fries are my favorite food (I order them almost every chance I get) so I was basically destined to love this place, and the good news is – I did!

Two friends and I were out in Federal Hill and in the mood for wings and fries so we headed over to The Local Fry. First we started off with an order of wings. One friend and I love the Honey Old Bay Wings at No Idea Tavern so we decided to give these a shot. These were very good, nice and crispy, slightly sticky  and not too much of the old bay flavor. If I wasn’t in a BBQ sauce mood, I would order these again.

My other friend, was unsure about Honey Old Bay Wings so she ordered the traditional Old Bay Wings. As someone who is still developing a taste for old bay (I didn’t grow up in Maryland) I didn’t enjoy these as much. They were still very crispy and flavorful though which is two of the most important things to consider when ordering wings.

Obviously, the only reason we came here was for the fries, so we decided to split two orders. The first order of fries we tried was the Garlic and Parmesan French Fries. The fries were crispy and full of flavor. They were a great accompaniment to the wings.

We also ordered the Korean Short Rib Fries which were different than things I normally find on a menu. They were fresh cut fries topped with braised short rib, pickled red onions, crema, scallions, and toasted sesame seeds. Up until I tried these fries, my favorites in Federal Hill were at Shotti’s Point, but these blew Shotti’s Point out of the water. They were insanely flavorful and possibly the most creative fries I’ve ever had. I can’t wait to go back and try everything else on the menu.
