Canton: Langermann’s

Update: Langermann’s is now closed.

I’ve been to Langermann’s in Canton for brunch before and kept meaning to return for dinner. A friend and I were heading to a party in Canton and decided to use one of my last remaining City Dining Cards at Langermann’s for dinner.

After looking over the menu, my friend decided to start with a Caesar Salad. She said there was a great ratio of dressing to lettuce and the dressing was incredibly creamy, one of the better Caesar salad’s she has had because sometimes, it’s an afterthought.

Since ordering the zucchini chips at Ouzo Bay, I had been craving vegetable fries. Fortunately, Langermann’s had Asparagus Frites with a side of smoky mountain pepper jam. The pepper jam was delicious and spicy enough to really take the asparagus to the next level. I would order these again in an instant.

For my friends main course, she ordered Missy’s Skillet Chicken which came with smoky pepper jam, harcourt verts, and grits that she substituted for mashed potatoes. Something great about skillet chicken is that the skin gets very crispy and the meat inside stays very tender and moist – this dish was no different. Most of the time, chicken dishes don’t really wow me but this was a really great dish.

For my main course, I ordered the Braised Beef Short Rib, the beef was melt in your mouth tender, and seasoned nicely. It came with super smooth, creamy mashed potatoes and asparagus.

My friend and I were both very happy with our meals, and even though you couldn’t tell from what we ordered, plenty of the items on the menu are southern inspired which makes it stand out from the plenty of other date spots in Canton.

Langermann’s is located at 2400 Boston St. in Canton.
