Federal Hill: 3 Bean

There’s no shortage of coffee shops in Baltimore, that’s for sure. However, for the most part they’re located in Hampden or Mount Vernon, unfortunately, there are very few in Federal Hill. Fortunately for me, 3 Bean Coffee just opened in Federal Hill and they brew Counter Culture Coffee which is perhaps my favorite brand of coffee.

A friend and I were looking to grab coffee and something very quick for breakfast so we decided to walk over to 3 Bean Coffee.

Because it was very early and we needed a coffee jolt, I started with a Latte. The latte had latte art, which is just something that makes me happy as I sip my beverage, but otherwise it was a very good latte which is really a testament to the coffee beans they use.

My friend ordered the Coffee Cake because  3 Bean Coffee has a lot of coffee options and pastries, but don’t go there if you’re expecting an egg sandwich (venture to Dooby’s, it’s worth it!) The coffee cake was buttery with a hint of cinnamon, it was a great accompaniment to a cup of coffee.

To pair with my cup of coffee, I ordered a slice of pie. 3 Bean Coffee sources their pies from Dangerously Delicious Pies. Dangerously Delicious has been on my Baltimore bucket list for a while, I just haven’t made it there yet. However this Chocolate Chess Pie gave me a reason to venture over to Canton for some more pies. The pie was a chocolate mouse consistency over flaky pie crust and probably one of the best pies I’ve ever had. Coffee and great pie for breakfast, what’s not to love?

3 Bean Coffee also has ice cream and some other wonderful looking pastries on their menu. If you’re looking for something on the sweet side, I’d highly recommend a stop there for your next coffee break.

3 Bean Coffee is located at 209 Key Hwy, in Federal Hill
