I was meeting a friend for dinner in Mount Vernon and we were both craving sushi. Minato is only a quick walk from her apartment so we decided to check it out. I had heard the vibe was a lot more casual than XS which was exactly what we were looking for.
Like most of my meals that include sushi, we started with an order of Edamame. The edamame was good, but there was nothing particularly noteworthy about it.
The real star of the meal was the sushi, which is fitting because we went to Minato for the sushi.
My friend and I split four rolls which were different combinations of tuna, salmon, avocado, and mango. We loved all of them. The four we ordered were Tuna Lover, Spicy Tuna and Avocado, Volcano Roll, and the Roman Roll.
My favorite of the four was the Roman Roll. Inside was spicy tuna and avocado and the outside was mango, salmon, and white tuna.
The sushi at Minato was fresh, the rolls were inventive — what’s not to love?
Minato is located at 1013 N Charles St, in Mount Vernon.
