A friend and I were craving donuts, but not the type of donuts that are handcrafted in a hipster paradise. We wanted the type of donuts from a bakery that has been in business for decades and changed hands from one family member to another. A quick search brought me to the Baltimore Magazine article about the editor’s favorite doughnuts. They all looked great, and I bookmarked the rest of the spots for later, but Fenwick Bakery wasn’t too far and we decided to check it out.
When we entered, the shop was filled with cases of delicious looking pastries.
It was hard to settle on just one pastry each, so we decided to split a few.
The first donut we split was the Sugar Twist; this donut, like the three to follow, was cakey, light, and delicious. If the donut craving strikes again, this would satisfy it in an instant.
The next donut we tried was Marshmallow Filled, that was my personal favorite. There was a lot of marshmallow filling, but it wasn’t overpowering. The lady at the bakery said it was made with real marshmallow. It definitely makes my personal top 5 donut list.
The third donut we tried was Custard Filled and topped with chocolate frosting. The custard was plentiful and the chocolate frosting was rich and delicious.
Lastly, we tried a Chocolate Frosted Donut, like the other three, this one was also a winner. The frosting was rich and the donut was delicious.
If you’re in Hamilton and looking for something sweet, head over to Fenwick Bakery and be sure to try the marshmallow filled donut.
Fenwick Bakery is located at 7219 Harford Rd, in Hamilton.

This makes me SO HAPPY to see you posting about Fenwick. My grandmother has been going there since she was younger and always took me. As you say they’re real bakery doughnuts not hipster paradise doughnuts, I want more people to know about Fenwick…but I also don’t. You should also definitely try the Italian market across the street from it. Amazing pasta, sandwiches, cheese, etc.
I’m so glad you liked my review, Marlo! And thank you for the tip! What’s the name of the Italian market? Have you been to Woodlea Bakery yet? They also have old fashioned donuts, I should have a review coming soon!
