If you’re on the hunt for a burger in Baltimore, without a doubt the Crosstown Burger from Hamilton Tavern is sure to come up in your searches. It’s widely regarded as the best burger in Baltimore. But I rarely seem to find myself in Hamilton, until last week. I needed to pick up some donuts from Woodlea Bakery after work and I took this as the perfect opportunity to finally try the Crosstown Burger.
Hamilton Tavern is your typical neighborhood bar. The dining space is small and comfortable and the menu isn’t overwhelming.
We started with an order of the Fried Dill Pickle Chips which came with a goat cheese sauce. These were wonderful, the pickles were cut thick and the breading on the exterior was thin. The goat cheese sauce was also delicious, I would eat that by the spoonful if I could.
The reason my friend and I went over to Hamilton Tavern was for the famed Crosstown Burger. Unsurprisingly, it lived up to the rave reviews. The burger came with Roseda Farms beef, shredded iceberg lettuce, tomato, red onion, and horseradish cheddar. I opted to add the sticky-spicy bacon also. The burger patty was thick, but not greasy and all of the components worked really well together. But perhaps the best part was the sticky-spicy bacon. It was candied and gave the burger a sweet-spicy taste. It was wonderful. I’d drive back to Hamilton for some more bacon in an instant.
The only miss of the evening were the onion rings that my friend added with her burger. They were sweeter than I would have liked and almost tasted like a funnel cake.
The best burger in Baltimore, hands down is at Hamilton Tavern.
Hamilton Tavern is located at 5517 Harford Rd, Hamilton.
