An egg sandwich is one of my absolute favorite things to eat for breakfast. There are plenty of local coffee shops that make a mean breakfast sandwich. Ceremony Coffee opened last fall in Mount Vernon and is offering coffee they roast themselves as well as a few breakfast options. I had some writing I needed to get done, and knew Ceremony Coffee was the perfect place to sit down and get work done and finally try one of the beautiful toasts I had seen floating around Instagram.

I started with a Latte which was unsurprisingly delicious and had some nifty latte art made out of the foam.  This was a perfect start to my day. The espresso used in this drink was slightly bitter and I loved it – then again, I’ve never met a coffee drink that I don’t like.

I ordered the Poached Egg Toast which was thick cut whole wheat bread topped with bacon jam, smashed avocado, a poached egg, and feta. While this isn’t a traditional breakfast sandwich, it really hit the spot. The bacon jam was salty and delicious when spread over the toast. Plus, avocado and a runny egg is a winning combo. I was thrilled with this as a breakfast choice.
