I’ve expressed my disdain for Columbia before, it’s a vast wasteland of strip malls. But, Bertucci’s is rolling out a new menu and some things necessitate a trip outside of the city.
To be honest, I haven’t been to a Bertucci’s since the servers were giving me dough to play with because I was a child. But I’m thrilled I had a chance to try the food again, everything blew me away.
When my friend and I stopped in to Bertucci’s last week, I was low key hoping for some dough to play with but fortunately we were just given (more than a few) delicious things.
We started with the Roasted Tuscan Vegetables. This was a great way to start the meal, the veggies were simply roasted in the brick over with some olive oil, garlic, and rosemary.
Next up was one of the best salads I’ve ever had. The grilled chicken was over a bed of arugula and drizzled with a lemon, garlic vinaigrette. I fell in love with everything about this salad. Next time I’m at Bertucci’s, it’s on the must order list.
Bertucci’s is known for their specialties that come out of the brick oven, so we jumped at the chance to try a Stromboli. Yummy toasted bread, salty meats, and melted cheese, this dish was another slam dunk. And, it came with signature marina sauce for dipping. I don’t recall ever having a stromboli before (I usually stick with pizza, my true love) but this was a welcome addition to the meal.
Let’s not forget what Bertucci’s is really known for, the pizza! And we had a chance to try three pizzas. Unsurprisingly, they were all great. My favorite of the three was the Verde Pizza which was a white pizza with caramelized onions and prosciutto. But the Margherita Pizza and the Chicken Pepper Pizza were also welcome additions to our table.
As if this wasn’t enough food, we also had an order of the Meatballs. They were so tender and basically fell apart in my mouth with every bite. Next time I’m at Bertucci’s, this is on the must order list for sure.
And because no one can pass up dessert, we ended up the meal with a Cannoli. The pastry shell was super crispy and filled with a delicious creamy filling. It was nice ending the meal on such a high note.
Bertucci’s is located at 9801 Snowden River Parkway, Columbia
