Gramercy, NYC: Daily Provisions

When my brother suggested Daily Provisions as the ‘perfect lunch spot’ during a recent family outing in NYC, we all had complete and utter faith in him. The kid knows good food. Of course, this Danny Meyer spot was a fantastic lunch and Harris steered us all in the right direction when ordering.

The menu at this bakery/cafe had so many delicious looking options that we all decided to share a few things. Following Harris’ direction, we started with the Chicken Milanese. This perfectly fried chicken cutlet was on a beautiful piece of focaccia with spinach, peppers, and caesar vinaigrette. I would drive back to NYC and return for this sandwich alone.

We also went with the Roasted Delicata Squash Sandwich and I think this was my favorite bite. The squash with the cheese, caramalized onions, and pickled peppers made for a delicious sandwich that I’m sure I’ll be thinking about for months.

The other delicious sandwich we shared was the Rotisserie Chicken. There was a ton of juicy chicken, plus some thick cut bacon, avocado, green tomato, and dijonnaise. It was creamy and another fantastic sandwich.

Harris told us we couldn’t leave without trying some pastries and I’m so glad we listened to him. The Kouign-Amann was buttery and flaky. I had never had one before and if you know where to get something anywhere near as delicious as this version near Baltimore, please let me know in the comments.

We also had the Glazed Cruller which was also buttery and sugary. It was delicious and I can’t wait to go back and try the rest of their pastries.
