After driving down to Long Beach Island for a weekend of sun, sand, and fun my girlfriend and I were hungry for a quick bite to eat. A quick search on my phone pulled up El Swell Taqueria, the spot was nearby, had good ratings, and sounded perfect for what we were in the mood for.
The tacos are served ala carte, and they all sounded delicious so we decided to split a bunch. We tried the Fish Taco, Carne Asada, Tempura Fried Avocado, Chicken Rostizado, Swell Shrimp, and Redneck.
Of all the tacos we tried, my favorite was the Swell Fish Taco. The beer battered cod was fried to perfection and served with slaw and crema. Each bite was better than the last and we totally went back to the counter to order a second of this taco.
The Tempura Fried Avocado Taco was also really delicious. The fried avocado was a super creamy bite and had a great crispy crunch.
In addition to tacos, we also ordered Mexican Street Corn. The corn was slathered with mayo, lime, cotija cheese, and chipotle dust. It’s everything I want in elote. Another winner from El Swell.
