Update – Creme is now closed.
We decided to try Creme for dinner because the Groupon deal was almost too good to pass up ($29 for an appetizer, two entrees and a dessert.) I’ve driven past the restaurant many times and it looks great from the outside. Also because the chef was featured on season 6 of chopped it was an added bonus to get over there. Armed with our Groupon, we grabbed a ride from Lyft and headed over to Mount Vernon.
When you enter the restaurant, you are instantly greeted by a hostess. The dining room, was beautiful. High ceilings with beautiful moldings. If you want to impress your date with some decor, this is a great option.
The Groupon deal came with an appetizer so after glancing over the menu, my friend and I decided to share the Caesar Salad. It was good, however I prefer my anchovies chopped into the dish so I cannot see them. Also on the menu it said there would be croutons but the dish was lacking the croutons. Regardless, the dressing was good and the lettuce was crisp, making it a good Caesar Salad.
My friend ordered the N.Y. Strip for her main course. It was served on a bed of fat fries, and topped with sautéed mushrooms. She said it was good, however not the best steak she has ever had. It was lacking a little bit of seasoning. Personally, I think she orders her meat a little overcooked and that might be why it was missing some of the flavor.
For my main course, I ordered the Meat & Potatoes. It was a braised boneless beef short-ribs served on sautéed spinach and sweet potato au gratin. This was a fairly large portion. The meat was served off the bone and very tender and full of flavor. The sweet potato cake was also wonderful.
With the deal, we were also offered dessert. I don’t normally order dessert because I like more basic sweets and less of a cake type dish. We shared the Belgian Chocolate Mousse which was good, it was creamy and full of flavor without being too rich.
For a beautiful environment with upscale dining, check out Creme in Mount Vernon. With the beautiful atmosphere, it also makes a great place for date night, if you want to make it a good deal, check to see if they are offering a Groupon.

This place has a great brunch, too.
Have you been to Sotta Soppra?
No I haven’t but I want to go. Tonight they have a flip-a-coin dinner where if you guess correctly (heads or tails) your meal is on them!
How often do they do that? I love it there… you have to try the pumpkin pasta…
Warning though – it can be hard to control yourself.
I’m not sure, I think it was just a one time thing for their anniversary.
