Of all of the coffee shops and lunch places I have visited, hands down my favorite spot to grab a quick bite is Artifact Coffee in Hampden. I’ve been there quite a few times for lunch and each time I am beyond thrilled with what I ordered as well as the outstanding service from the baristas.
Artifact Coffee is another restaurant owned by Spike and Amy Gjerde. They own Woodberry Kitchen as well as a few other spots in the area.
I’ve now visited Artifact Coffee more than just a handful of times and below are some of my favorite dishes. But you really can’t go wrong with anything you order.
Of everything I’ve ordered at Artifact Coffee, hands down my favorite is the Butternut Squash Soup. The soup is creamy, has a little kick of a spice and is filled with delicious croutons. Out of all of the soups I’ve ever had, this is by far my favorite.
Another one of my favorites is also a soup. It’s the Chunky Tomato Bread Soup, it has a chunky tomato base with tons of hunks of bread and cheese. Its the perfect dish to accompany a grilled cheese, but more specifically the wonderful grilled cheese at Artifact.
The grilled cheese is stuffed with cheddar cheese and a bread and butter pickle. The pickle inside gives it an interesting flavor and adds a nice crunch to the sandwich. This is one of the more unique grilled cheeses I’ve ever had and I love it.
Another sandwich favorite of mine is the Roast Beef. It comes with thinly sliced roast beef on fresh bread with cheese, lettuce and horseradish mayo. The sandwich isn’t anything special but it is delicious.
If you’re looking for a great side dish to accompany your meal, the Fingerling Potatoes are delicious. They’re well roasted and tender and seasoned nicely. They’re the perfect side for a sandwich.
Artifact Coffee is known for their great coffee program, so when I’m there I always make sure to grab a cup. My favorite is their latte which has my favorite, latte art. However at Artifact, they don’t have skim milk which is possibly my only complaint with the cafe.
There are so many wonderful options at Artifact Coffee in Hampden that I’m confident that anything ordered will be delicious.
Artifact Coffee is located at 1500 Union Avenue, in Hampden.
