Colorful Churros at The Loop in Westminster California

While planning my trip to California, I kept seeing colorful churro photos pop up on Instagram from The Loop Handcrafted Churros. A few California food bloggers I follow seemed to visit regularly, and the photos alone were enough to make me curious.

When I realized my hotel was only about a 15-minute drive away in Westminster, I knew it had to be one of my dessert stops while exploring the area.

Quick Guide to The Loop Churros

Location: Westminster, California
Known for: creative churro toppings and colorful drinks
What to try: Lil Loop sampler, specialty lemonades
Best for: dessert stops while exploring Orange County

The Loop is known for both hot churros and chilled churro ice cream creations, but on this visit I wasn’t really in the mood for ice cream. Instead, my friend and I decided to try the Lil Loop Sampler, which turned out to be a great way to experience several flavors at once.

The Lil Loop Sampler

The sampler came with six mini churros, each topped with something different:

chocolate crunch
cookies + cream
matcha crunch
speculoop
sprinkle berry
original cinnamon sugar

They arrived piping hot, with crispy edges and soft centers. The toppings added just the right amount of sweetness without overpowering the churros themselves.

My Favorite Flavor

Out of the six flavors, my favorite was the Sprinkle Berry.

It was topped with a strawberry glaze and colorful sprinkles, which made it both fun to look at and delicious to eat.

A Matcha Lover’s Pick

My friend was immediately drawn to the Matcha Crunch churro. Since she’s a big matcha fan, it wasn’t surprising that this one ended up being her favorite.

The matcha topping added a slightly earthy sweetness that paired nicely with the warm churro.

Creative Lemonades

To go along with the churros, we each ordered one of the colorful drinks on the menu.

My friend chose Beyoncé’s Lemonade, which is a watermelon lemonade that was sweet, refreshing, and perfect for balancing out the dessert.

I ordered the Mermaid Lemonade, a bright blue raspberry lemonade topped with butterfly pea tea. It might have been one of the prettiest drinks I’ve ever ordered, with swirling colors that looked almost too nice to drink.

Luckily it tasted just as good as it looked.

A Fun Dessert Stop in Orange County

Between the colorful drinks and the creative churro flavors, The Loop felt like a fun dessert stop during our time in Orange County.

If you’re exploring the area and looking for something sweet, it’s definitely a place that lives up to its Instagram reputation.

The Loop Churros is located at 9729 Bolsa Ave, Westminster, CA

If you enjoy discovering fun dessert spots while traveling, you might also like some of the other treats I’ve found along the way, including doughnuts in Santa Monica and bakeries worth visiting in Richmond.
