Ellicott City: Manor Hill Tavern

I don’t venture out there nearly enough but Howard County has plenty of good places to grab a bite to eat. Manor Hill Brewery brews plenty of great beers and they opened up a restaurant where you could not only enjoy their beers but have a great bite to eat as well. Good food and good beers? I’m in! And so were two of my friends.

Manor Hill Tavern is located in Historic Ellicott City which you should defiantly take a chance to walk through when you’re in the area.

Because Manor Hill Tavern is known for their beers, we all ordered a round. My dining companions went with the Manor Hill IPA and I ordered a flight. I can’t wait to go back and try the rest of their beers.

Flight of Beers

Beer and pretzels are such a classic combo, so we started with the Manor Hill Spent Grain Pretzels. While the pretzels were good, the real highlight here was the whole grain IPA mustard. It was spicy without being unbearable and when combined with the beer cheese dip, it was a perfect pair.

My best friend is a fried chicken sandwich person. If there’s one on the menu, she orders it. So of course she went with the Bird is the Word. The fried chicken was pickle brined which made it super crispy with a juicy center, and the chicken was topped with a chipotle slaw, sliced pickles, and a spicy honey drizzle. Everything on this sandwich was executed well and it was just a great bite.

The sandwich came with a side of Bacon Fat Fries and these were out of this world good. They were crispy, and salty, and came with some crumbled bacon on top. Yum!

I’m a sucker for pepperoni when it gets super crispy and turns into ‘roni cups’ so I went for the Cuparoni Pie. This cheesy pie had pepperoni galore and it was crispy, just how I like it. Safe to say this was a winner.

My girlfriend ordered the Holy Smoke Pizza which may have been the best thing I tried at Manor Hill Tavern. The white pizza was topped with cheese, beer can chicken, pickled jalapenos, corn, BBQ sauce, and Alabama white sauce. The pizza was then smoked and it was awesome. Each bite had a spicy, smoky, creamy taste and I’m drooling just thinking about this pizza. I will definitely be ordering it on my next visit to Manor Hill Tavern.
