Even though the bomb-cyclone season might be behind us (and fingers crossed, no polar vortex this year), it’s still deep winter — and that means I’ve been eating so much soup. For me, there’s nothing like a steaming bowl of ramen to chase off the cold. Kippo Ramen in Fells Point has become one of my go-to spots.

What We Ate
Chicken Paitan
My partner always orders the Chicken Paitan for good reason. The broth is creamy and rich, and it comes with a jammy egg, mushrooms, juicy chicken, and a generous serving of noodles. It’s the kind of bowl that wraps you in comfort on a chilly night.

Spicy Shoyu (with chicken + corn)
I went with the Spicy Shoyu — just the right amount of heat to wake up the senses in winter. I added chicken and corn (because corn = sweet bursts in every bite). The broth is a bit saltier than the Paitan, but I loved it. The spice and flavors cut through the cold nicely.
