3 Days on Tilghman Island: My Perfect Wylder Hotel Getaway

If you’re anything like me, sometimes you just need a weekend that feels like a reset—good food, water views, slower mornings, and no real pressure to do anything.

That’s exactly what I found at Wylder Hotel Tilghman Island, just minutes from St. Michaels, Maryland on the Chesapeake Bay.

What I didn’t expect? How easy it was to completely unplug. Between the waterfront views, incredible food, and built-in experiences, this trip ended up being the perfect city escape—the kind of weekend where you actually come back feeling recharged.

Here’s exactly how I spent three days.

Day 1: Easing into Weekend Mode

Corah’s Corner

I headed out toward Tilghman Island and made a quick stop in St. Michaels for lunch at Corah’s Corner—and honestly, it was the perfect start.

My wife and I ordered the spicy fish sandwich, which came out crispy and golden with just the right amount of heat, plus a salmon BLT that felt like a coastal upgrade to a classic. Simple, but so good.

After that, I wandered through town a bit—grabbed ice cream (mint chip for me), popped into Lyon Rum for a quick tasting, and just took my time before heading to the hotel.

Arriving at Wylder Hotel

The second I pulled into Wylder Hotel Tilghman Island, everything slowed down.

Water views, open space, Adirondack chairs scattered along the property—I was immediately relaxed.

I checked in, dropped my bags, and just walked around for a bit, taking it all in. No rush, no real plan.

Afternoon: Exploring the Property

We spent the rest of the afternoon fully leaning into doing… not much.

My wife and I played a little cornhole, grabbed a drink, and soaked in the serene bay views.

Dinner at Tickler’s Crab Shack (and Staying There All Night)

One of the best parts about staying at Wylder is that you don’t have to leave for a great dinner.

We headed over to Tickler’s Crab Shack and we ordered a little bit of everything:

  • Fresh oysters to start
  • Crab balls that were crispy and packed with flavor
  • A buttery Cod Nantucket
  • And steak frites for something heartier

Later that weekend, my wife and I ended up back at the bar ordering crab dip and a cheeseburger, which felt like the right decision.

The drinks were just as good—especially the Wyld Mojito and a light, citrusy spritz that was perfect for the setting.

Day 2: Sunrise, Bikes, Spa Time & a Night Out

One of the most underrated perks of staying at Wylder Hotel? Direct access to the water at sunrise.

Wake up early and walk out to the docks to catch the sunrise. The stillness, soft light, and reflections on the water make it one of the most peaceful moments of the trip.

Morning at Wylder: Bikes & Coffee

After sunrise, we grabbed one of Wylder’s complimentary bikes and explored Tilghman Island.

Quiet roads, open views, and a slow pace make this one of the best ways to start your day.

Breakfast across the street at Two If By Sea Café is an absolute must. They’re serving comforting classics like eggs benedict and pancakes. And the pancakes were really amazing.

Midday: Back to Wylder for Pool & Spa Time

Most of the day was spent back at Wylder—and honestly, that’s the whole point.
I went back and forth between:

  • The pool
  • The waterfront seating areas
  • And the sauna + cold plunge again

Calling us relaxed would be an understatement.

Afternoon Exploring

If you feel like venturing out, take a short journey to Tilghman Island Country Store. But honestly, you could easily spend this entire day without leaving The Wylder Hotel.

Dinner in St. Michaels: Ruse at Wildset

For dinner, we took the 15 minute drive into St. Michaels for Ruse at Wildset, and this meal felt like a completely different side of the trip—in the best way. Dinner was a little bit less “crab shack” but the food was still seafood driven and what you would expect from a restaurant on the Chesapeake bay.

We ordered a mix of dishes:

  • A bright, citrusy shrimp aguachile tostada
  • Crispy crab rangoons
  • A fresh little gem salad
  • A super refreshing smashed cucumber dish
  • Rich raviole du Dauphiné
  • And a perfectly cooked golden tilefish

I paired it with a “Bugsy” cocktail, which had a bold citrus kick and balanced everything really well.

End the Night Back at Wylder

After dinner, we headed back to Wylder Hotel and ended the night exactly where it started—by the fire pit.

There’s something about coming back to the water, the quiet, and that same cozy atmosphere that ties the whole day together.

Day 3: Slow Morning, Local Stops & Departure

For our final morning, we enjoyed our final quiet moments at Wylder Hotel. We took a leisurely bike ride and hung out on the pier.

One Last Local Stop

Before heading home, we made some final stops in St. Michaels for coffee at The Blue Crab and then nearby Easton at Tiger Lily. And it’s not too far from Foxwell’s Antiques – one of my favorite antique stores on the Eastern Shore.

Why Stay at Wylder Hotel Tilghman Island

If you’re planning a trip to St. Michaels, Wylder Hotel Tilghman Island is one of the best places to stay on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

What makes it stand out:

  • Waterfront location with sunrise views
  • On-site restaurant (Tickler’s Crab Shack)
  • Heated saltwater pool
  • Sauna and cold plunge experience
  • Complimentary bikes
  • Complimentary kayaks & paddleboards
  • Fire pits and outdoor gathering spaces

It’s the kind of place where you don’t just stay—you experience the destination.

Final Thoughts: A Wylder Weekend in Tilghman Island

A weekend centered around Wylder Hotel Tilghman Island is the perfect mix of relaxation, great food, and coastal charm.

Between the on-site amenities, nearby restaurants, and easy access to St. Michaels, it’s one of the best 3-day getaways in Maryland.

If you’re looking for a trip where you can slow down, eat well, and enjoy the water—this is it.
