My 6 Favorite Bakeries in Baltimore Right Now

Baltimore has a strong and varied bakery scene, and what makes it especially interesting is how distinct each place is. Some bakeries focus on French-style laminated pastries, others highlight Greek baking traditions, and a few blur the line between bakery, café, and full breakfast spot – complete with delicious egg sandwiches.

If you are searching for the best bakeries in Baltimore, these are the places that consistently stand out for pastries, bread, and baked goods worth planning a stop around.

Sacré Sucré

Sacré Sucré is one of the best places in Baltimore for classic French pastries.

The focus at this Fells Point shop is on laminated doughs, croissants, and simple pastries executed with precision. Everything is built around technique and consistency rather than novelty.

This is where to go for a straightforward pastry experience: a croissant, a pain au chocolat, or something seasonal that highlights classic French baking.

Brunch Supply

Brunch Supply is a micro bakery in Upper Fells Point that operates Friday through Sunday with a rotating selection of pastries.

The menu changes weekly, so the best way to see what is available is to check their Instagram for the most up-to-date pastry list. If there is something you want to make sure you get, they also offer pre-orders, which is the easiest way to secure specific items before the weekend rush.

It is a focused bakery stop with a small but thoughtful pastry program that changes regularly and everything I’ve tried has been so good, but the morning buns are a constant favorite.

Café Dear Leon

Café Dear Leon is one of the strongest pastry-focused cafés in Baltimore, their OG location is in Canton but they recently opened up a second (and larger) spot in Remington – called La Maison by Cafe Dear Leon.

The bakery case is small but intentional, with items that sell out early in the day. The pastries are paired with Ceremony Coffee, making it a reliable stop for both coffee and baked goods in one visit. Perhaps my favorite thing about how Café Dear Leon operates is the bake schedule they release every month. With a bit of planning, you can make sure you arrive right around when the Crab Bagels, Tamago Egg Sando, or whatever else strikes your interest is coming out of the oven.

Woodlea Bakery

Woodlea Bakery in Overlea is a traditional neighborhood bakery with a long-standing local presence. They opened in the 1940s and have been pumping out delicious baked good ever since.

The focus is on classic baked goods and straightforward execution rather than specialty pastries or modern interpretation. It is a reliable stop for everyday baked goods and simple breakfast items. But what they’re known for (and my favorite thing on the menu) are the cookies and the marshmallow creme filled donut.

Blueprint Café

Blueprint Café is right around the corner from JHU in Charles Village. This café and bakery-style stop that blends coffee, breakfast, and pastry-driven offerings in a simple, neighborhood setting.

It works well as an easy morning stop when you want something straightforward — coffee, baked goods, and breakfast items without a long wait or overcomplicated menu. The focus is on consistency and creativity, as everything I’ve tried has been delicious and unlike other pastry shops in the city.

Estiatorio Plaka

Estiatorio Plaka, the restaurant in Greektown includes a bakery counter in the front of the restaurant featuring Greek pastries and desserts.

Standouts include nutella-stuffed pastries, baklava, and other Greek baked goods. The bakery also pairs well with their coffee program, especially the freddo cappuccino.

This is one of the best spots in Baltimore for Greek-style pastries and sweets.

Final Thoughts

Baltimore’s bakery scene is strongest when you explore across different styles. French technique, café-style pastry programs, and traditional neighborhood bakeries all exist within a small geographic area, which makes it easy to build a bakery-focused day around different neighborhoods.
