Baltimore Coffee Shops I Love (By Neighborhood)

Baltimore has a great coffee shop scene. It’s really fun to explore, different neighborhoods, different moods, different kinds of mornings.

Like every other millennial, I’m no stranger to coffee shops. Catch me sipping a latte, vanilla iced coffee, americano, or whatever strikes my fancy pretty much all day long. Fortunately for me, there is a great selection of coffee shops in Baltimore.

If it’s your first time here, or you’re just trying to switch things up, these are a few of my go-to Baltimore coffee shops. They’re all in areas that are easy to spend time in, and good starting points if you want to get a feel for the city.

How to Approach Baltimore’s Coffee Scene

Baltimore’s coffee scene works best when you treat it by neighborhood.

Each area has its own rhythm. Instead of trying to hit everything, pick one neighborhood, start with coffee, and build your day from there.

Start Slow at Good Neighbor

Located near the avenue in Hampden, Good Neighbor is a good place to ease into the day, especially if you want to make a morning out of it. It’s not just coffee—it’s a whole setup. There’s a small shop, a boutique hotel, and outdoor seating that makes it easy to linger.

If you’re exploring Baltimore through coffee, this is one of those places where you don’t need to rush. Sit outside if the weather’s good and let it be your first stop of the day. And, it’s next to one of my favorite antique stores, Wishbone Reserve.

Keep It Easy with Ceremony Coffee

With a few locations around the city (Mount Vernon, Harbor Point, and Federal Hill), Ceremony has been part of Baltimore’s coffee scene for a while now. It was one of the earlier third-wave spots to open in the city, and it still feels like a go-to.

The cafes are bright, open, and easy to settle into—good for getting some work done or meeting a friend and hanging out for a bit. It’s one of those places that’s always reliable, which is probably why I end up there so often.

Also, get the avocado toast.

Try Something New at Morning Mugs

If you’re heading down to Federal Hill, Morning Mugs is worth the stop. The rotating specials are the main draw—there’s usually something new on the menu, so it never really feels repetitive.

My wife is obsessed with the coconut cold foam and has sent me out of my way to grab her a coffee more than once, which probably says everything you need to know.

They also do this fun thing with their coffee sleeves—guess the color of your coffee sleeve, and your next drink is 10% off. It’s small, but it really adds to their whole “fun vibe”.

Bonus shoutout, the owner, Tyler, is absolutely killing it on Instagram and TikTok. His content is so fun to watch.

Build a Routine at Café Los Sueños

Café Los Sueños in Remington has worked its way into my weekly routine. It’s on the way to the Waverly Farmers Market, so it’s an easy first stop before the rest of the morning.

They’re roasting some of my favorite coffee in the city right now—these are the beans I usually keep at home for pour over. If you get there early enough, you might be able to grab a seat at the counter, which is one of the best seats in Baltimore.

I keep my order simple here—usually cold brew or drip. The coffee is good enough that it doesn’t really need anything else.

A Late-Night Stop at The Bun Shop

The Bun Shop is one of those places that feels a little different from everything else—in a good way. It’s tucked into Mount Vernon and has more of a late-night, slightly moody vibe than the brightly lit vibe of its peers.

They’re known for their buns—both sweet and savory, pulled from all over the place (empanadas, pasties, rotiboys)—along with strong coffee and Vietnamese-style drinks.

What really makes it stand out, though, is the hours. They’re open way later than a typical coffee shop (and most places in Baltimore honestly) so it’s great for an “after hours” coffee fix.

Exploring Baltimore, One Coffee Shop at a Time

The best way to get into Baltimore’s coffee scene is to not overthink it. Pick a neighborhood, find a spot, and let it lead you into the rest of your day.

These are just a few starting points, but they’ve helped me get to know the city in a way that feels personal. I’ll keep adding more as I go.
