As the weather starts to warm up, there’s really only one thing on my mind — ice cream. And luckily, if you’re in Baltimore, you’ve got plenty of great options.
Whether you’re looking for a classic cone, small-batch flavors, or something a little more unique, the ice cream scene in Baltimore seriously delivers. I’ve made it a point to try as many spots as possible over the years, and these are the places I keep going back to (plus a few that are high on my list).
If you’re planning a full Baltimore food day — maybe even pairing this with a stop at Camden Yards — you’ll definitely want to save room for one of these.
The Best Ice Cream Shops in Baltimore (Tried & Loved)
Bmore Licks (Patterson Park & Federal Hill)
If you’ve spent any time in Baltimore, you’ve probably seen the massive cones coming out of Bmore Licks. This is a classic Baltimore ice cream spot, known for huge portions and 100+ soft serve flavors.
Perfect for a warm night walk — especially if you’re near Patterson Park or Federal Hill.

The Charmery (Hampden, Towson, and Columbia)
One of the most well-known names in the Baltimore ice cream scene, The Charmery is all about small-batch, creative flavors. Their Hampden location is the original, but you’ll find them in a few spots around the area. I think the best kept secret is the location in Union Collective, generally ample parking and the shortest lines.
If you like trying something a little different, this is your place.

Jupiter’s (Mount Washington)
A bit more low-key, but definitely worth the trip. Jupiter’s serves up Taharka Bros. ice cream, which is a local favorite for a reason.
If you’re in Mount Washington, this is an easy win.
If you’re heading up that way, it also makes a great stop if you’re following my I-83 road trip from Baltimore to Harrisburg, especially if you’re building a full day of food stops.
Miss Twist (Locust Point)
This is one of those spots that just feels like summer. Think classic soft serve, cones, and simple toppings — nothing overly complicated, just really solid ice cream.
Great stop if you’re exploring Locust Point or the waterfront.

Pitango Gelato (Fells Point)
If you’re more in the mood for gelato, Pitango is one of the best in the city. Super smooth, rich flavors, and a perfect stop while walking around Fells Point. They’ve been around since 2007 and for good reason.
Taharka Bros. (R. House, Lexington Market, Broadway Market, and Cross Street Market)
You’ll find Taharka Bros. in a bunch of restaurants and grocery stores around the city, but they also have scoop shops in four different food halls/markets and an ice cream truck. Their ice cream is locally made, super creamy, and packed with flavor. My favorite is the honey graham, but I haven’t had a bad flavor yet.
Definitely one of the strongest brands in the Baltimore ice cream scene.
Crave (Little Italy)
Right in the heart of Little Italy, Crave is a great dessert stop after dinner. They’re known for their bubble waffle cones filled with scoops of ice cream and other toppings, but they also have a few other desserts to choose from.

Quality Snowballs (Hampden)
Not technically ice cream — but if you’re talking about Baltimore summer desserts, this has to be included.
A classic Baltimore snowball is just as essential as ice cream, and Quality Snowballs is one of my favorites. Shaved ice and flavored syrup are an elite combo to cool down on a hot summer day.

Ice Cream Spots in Baltimore On My Radar
These are places I haven’t personally tried yet — but I’ve heard great things and they’re next on my list:
- Ice Queens
- Sydney’s Ice Creams
- Cajou Creamery (I’ve had their pints before — very good, especially if you’re looking for dairy-free options)
- Always Ice Cream Company
- Ice Cream Jubilee
- The Peggy at The Margaret Cleveland
Make It a Full Baltimore Food Day

- Start with lunch or a game at Camden Yards (check out my Camden Yards food guide)
- Explore neighborhoods like Hampden, Fells Point, or Federal Hill
- Treat yourself to a Sushi dinner
- End the day with a stop at one of these Baltimore ice cream shops
If you’re visiting from out of town, you could even pair this with a longer trip like:
Where to Get the Best Ice Cream in Baltimore
Baltimore has a seriously underrated dessert scene, and when it comes to ice cream in Baltimore, there’s no shortage of great scoop shops.
Whether you’re going for:
- A massive cone from Bmore Licks

You really can’t go wrong.
