One of my good friends recently moved out to Howard County, and we’re always on the lookout for new spots to eat. We usually end up at our standby, The Ale House Columbia, but sometimes you just need real Italian comfort food — you know, pasta, pizza, and plenty of cheese.
So we decided to venture out to Facci, a cozy Italian restaurant tucked inside a shopping center in Ellicott City. Even though it was just a short drive from Columbia, it felt like a total change of pace — quiet, warm, and full of that neighborhood charm that makes you want to linger over a glass of wine.
When we walked in, we were immediately drawn to the suspended fireplace hanging from the ceiling — the ultimate dinner-date backdrop. The atmosphere was relaxed but classy, perfect for a night out without feeling too formal.
We kicked things off with the Polpette Casserole — four juicy meatballs baked in tomato sauce with grilled pita and shaved Parmigiano. These meatballs were the real deal: meaty, flavorful, and with zero filler. I’d even argue they rival the ones at Joe Benny’s, which is saying something.
Then came the Caesar Salad, and wow — it was simple but perfectly done. The creamy dressing was evenly distributed, coating every bite without drowning the lettuce. Sometimes it’s the classics done right that really stand out
For mains, one friend ordered the Pappardelle Bolognese, featuring wide ribbons of homemade pasta in a rich, creamy meat sauce. The pasta texture was spot-on, and the bolognese had the kind of depth you only get from hours of simmering.
Another favorite was the Baked Ziti Rigate, made with penne, a three-cheese blend, tomato, and fresh basil — pure, cheesy comfort.
Of course, we couldn’t leave without trying a pizza, so we split the Pesto Pizza topped with grilled chicken, roasted tomatoes, pine nuts, and pesto sauce. It was flavorful and fresh, though next time I’ve got my eye on one of the more adventurous pies.
The only small hiccup was the service — it took a bit before our server came by, but once he did, everything flowed smoothly from there. Between the cozy vibe, fresh handmade pasta, and crave-worthy pizza, Facci is easily one of the best spots for Italian food in Howard County.
Facci is located at 11095 Resort Road, in Ellicott City

Love Facci and the Ale House.. When you get a chance, check out Friscoe tap house. I love their mahi mahi tacos :-).
I went once and thought it was only okay. I was also on a pretty bad date so maybe it was the company? I will give it another shot, thanks!
Sorry to hear that.. A bad date can definitely sour your mood and possibly the food? Okay that was bad ☺
