Southside Diner in Locust Point: Classic Comfort and All-Day Breakfast Vibes

When a Sunday morning brunch craving hits, there’s nothing better than finding a cozy spot that serves breakfast all day. My friend and I wanted something walkable and casual — and since I was in the mood for eggs, we decided to check out Southside Diner in Locust Point.

As soon as we walked in, the smell of sizzling bacon sealed the deal. The diner itself is on the smaller side and was packed with locals, but luckily, we snagged a table right away.

My friend went the mix-and-match route and built her own breakfast plate. She started with a Bagel and Cream Cheese — and while she really enjoyed it, my New York bagel-snob side thought it was just okay. Still, it hit the spot for a simple start.

Next up were the Home Fries. These were nicely seasoned with a crispy edge, though a few bites were on the mushy side. Not perfect, but still comforting and totally in line with what you expect from a classic diner breakfast.

And of course, she couldn’t skip the Bacon — thick-cut, crispy, and just the right amount of salty crunch. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with bacon that good.

For my breakfast, I ordered the Corned Beef Hash, because it’s one of those diner staples that never disappoints. Sure, it’s not the prettiest dish on the menu, but when that runny egg yolk mixes with the salty, crispy hash — it’s perfection. It was a little on the salty side, but overall, it totally hit the spot and gave me exactly what I was craving.
