Trinacria in Mount Vernon: A Classic Italian Deli with Serious Charm

If you ask around for the best Italian deli in Baltimore, you’ll quickly find there are two types of people — Team DiPasquale’s and Team Trinacria. I’ve already fallen for DiPasquale’s in Canton, but since Mount Vernon is a little closer to home, I decided it was time to see what Trinacria was all about. So, I made plans with a friend and went in hoping to find a new favorite.

When you walk into Trinacria, you’re instantly surrounded by shelves packed with Italian goodies — pastas, sauces, wines, cookies — basically a carb-lover’s paradise. It’s a bit of a maze (and a little bit of sensory overload), but in the best possible way.

My friend started with a Caesar Salad, which was simple and fresh — nothing groundbreaking, but it hit the spot.

Next up was the Ravioli, filled with creamy ricotta cheese and served with a classic tomato sauce. The pasta was fresh and tender, and we loved it so much that we grabbed a few packs from the freezer case to take home.

As for me, I went all in with the Eggplant Parmesan Sub, and let me tell you — the photo doesn’t do it justice. This thing was massive. Layers of crispy eggplant, gooey melted cheese, and just the right amount of tomato sauce, all packed into a perfectly toasted roll. It was the kind of sandwich that makes you stop mid-bite to say, “Wow, this is really good.”

Everything we tried at Trinacria was solid, and I’m thrilled to finally have a go-to Italian deli in Mount Vernon. Between the old-school charm, fresh pasta, and hearty sandwiches, it’s definitely worth a visit — whether you’re grabbing lunch or stocking up your fridge with Italian staples.

Trinacria is located at 111 W Centre St, in Baltimore.
