Federal Hill: Shotti’s Point

It’s safe to say that Shotti’s Point in Federal Hill has easily become one of my favorite places to stop in for a quick bite to eat and a drink. Since discovering it a week ago, I have been back two more times and each time the quality has been consistent.

A friend and I were walking down Fort Avenue looking for a spot to grab a beer, watch the game and grab a quick bite to eat away from the crowds in Federal Hill. The teal exterior brought us inside and the relaxed beachy feel is why we decided to stay.

When I was looking over the menu, the Rhino Chaser fries really caught my eye. The fries are a large portion topped with rosemary, thyme, parsley, sea salt, garlic, parmesan, a drizzle of balsamic glaze and white truffle aioli for dipping. Hands down, these may have been some of the best fries I’ve ever had. And fries are something I order constantly. Each time I’ve visited, we have ordered this dish and it has been demolished and loved by everyone in the group.

For our main course, I went with my friend who really loves a good bowl of chili, so not surprising, that’s what she decided to order. She said it was good, but not great. She would have preferred it to have more of a soup consistency rather than meat in sauce. She also didn’t love the addition of olives to the chili but this didn’t deter her from wanting to come back in the future.

I decided to order something significantly more simple. We were in a bar after all to watch a game and drink some beers. I ordered the Wings with Mild Shotti Sauce. The sauce was a blend of hot sauce, garlic and spices. These were good, I wish a touch spicier but I’m not sure if I could have handled the spicier version. However I did return and order the Zippy Can-A wings due to my waitresses recommendation and I preferred the flavor of those much better. They were sweet with a sneaky heat of spice.
