Downtown Baltimore: B&O American Brasserie

Enjoying a nice lunch during the workday is one of my favorite treats. And I’m glad it’s a trend that appears to be back on the upswing. On Friday, a friend and I decided to meet at one of our favorite downtown spots, B&O American Brasserie inside the Hotel Monaco.

The space is pretty – in that historic old school Baltimore way. And everything I’ve had from the menu is delicious.

We started the meal with one of my favorite dishes from B&O, the Duck Wings. They were fall off the bone tender and glazed with a sticky sweet old bay, cola, and whisky sauce. These definitely rank in my top three for wings in Baltimore.

My friend ordered the Wagyu Burger which was a seriously delicious option. Garlic and chive cheddar was melted atop a juicy burger with lettuce, tomato, onion, and some delicious bacon jam. If you’re looking for a mouthwatering burger, this is it.

Of all the authentically ‘Baltimore’ foods, Pit Beef is my favorite. So I jumped at the chance to have one of my favorite sandwiches for lunch. The version at B&O has tobacco onions (lightly fried), tiger sauce, and piled high thinly sliced pit beef. Thinking about this delicious meaty bite is making me drool it was so tasty.

Taking our fantastic waitresses advice, we opted to get the Chocolate Nougat Bar for dessert. This was like an amped up version of a Milky Way and we were all about it. Under the delicious layer of chocolate ganache was chocolate cake, chocolate mousse, and vanilla nougat. Even though we were so full from all the great bites we had earlier, we finished every delicious bite of this dessert.
