One of my favorite bars in Federal Hill recently went through a total glow-up and rebranded as Wayward Southern Bar + Kitchen. A friend of mine went shortly after the reopening and sent me a picture of their Brisket Mac & Cheese that honestly stopped me in my tracks. As both a brisket and mac & cheese fanatic, I knew I had to try it for myself ASAP.
It was a beautiful Sunday morning when my friend and I decided to head over for brunch. Naturally, we kicked things off with crushes—because what’s brunch without a cocktail or two? We ordered the Grapefruit Crush and the Strawberry Lemonade Crush, and while both were delicious, the strawberry lemonade definitely stole the show. It was refreshing, sweet, and the perfect start to a Southern-style brunch.
My friend ordered the Pig n’ Cow Omelette, and it’s exactly what you’d imagine from a place that specializes in Southern comfort food. This hearty omelette was packed with bacon and cheddar, then piled high with tender smoked brisket on top. The brisket was melt-in-your-mouth good — smoky, juicy, and full of flavor. If you’re a meat lover, this dish is basically your dream brunch on a plate.
Now for the real reason we came — the Brisket Mac n’ Cheese. And let me just say, it completely lived up to the hype. This was hands down the best mac & cheese I’ve ever had. The smoked gouda gave it a creamy, slightly smoky flavor, while the brisket added rich, savory depth. Every bite was perfectly cheesy, indulgent, and satisfying. Honestly, I’d come back to Wayward Southern Bar + Kitchen just for this dish alone.
If you’re on the hunt for one of the newest and most delicious brunch spots in Federal Hill, you’ve got to check out Wayward Southern Bar + Kitchen. Whether you’re craving a hearty brunch or just want an excuse to sip crushes and eat cheesy brisket bliss, this spot absolutely delivers.
Wayward Southern Bar + Kitchen is located at 1117 S Charles St, Baltimore
