Blue Pit BBQ in Hampden: Baltimore’s Go-To Spot for Brisket & Backyard Vibes

When the craving for BBQ hits, there’s nothing that can stop it. A friend and I were both in the mood for something meaty — specifically brisket — so we decided to check out the much-talked-about Blue Pit BBQ in Hampden.

Blue Pit has a casual, welcoming vibe with a counter-service setup that makes it feel like a relaxed neighborhood hangout. It’s the kind of place where you grab your tray, snag a seat, and settle in for seriously good BBQ.

We both ordered the Brisket Plate, which comes with cornbread, pickles, and your choice of two sides. The brisket was rubbed with Zeke’s Coffee, giving it a smoky, rich flavor with just a hint of bitterness that paired beautifully with the tender meat.

The brisket was perfectly cooked — juicy, flavorful, and even better when dipped in one of Blue Pit’s house-made BBQ sauces. Honestly, I’d come back just for that brisket alone.

The cornbread was also a standout — perfectly moist, buttery, and slightly sweet. The sides were solid, but nothing particularly memorable compared to the main attraction.

If you’ve got a serious BBQ craving, Blue Pit BBQ is absolutely worth the trip. Between the smoky brisket, cozy atmosphere, and friendly local feel, it’s easy to see why this spot has become a Hampden favorite.

Blue Pit BBQ is located at 1601 Union Ave, Baltimore.
