New York, NY: A Lunch Stop at Daily Provisions

When my brother suggested Daily Provisions as the “perfect lunch spot” during a recent family outing in New York City, none of us questioned it for a second. The kid knows good food, and he rarely steers us wrong.

Sure enough, this Danny Meyer café turned out to be an excellent choice. The menu is filled with sandwiches, pastries, and café staples that make it impossible to order just one thing — which worked perfectly for us because we decided to share several dishes.

Daily Provisions has that classic New York neighborhood café feel. It’s casual but polished, with a bakery case that immediately grabs your attention and a sandwich menu that makes choosing just one item nearly impossible.

Chicken Milanese Sandwich

Following Harris’s lead, we started with the Chicken Milanese sandwich.

The crispy fried chicken cutlet sat on a beautiful piece of focaccia with spinach, peppers, and a bright Caesar vinaigrette. The bread had the perfect chew, the chicken was incredibly crisp, and the whole sandwich was balanced and flavorful.

Honestly, I would happily return to New York just for this sandwich.

Roasted Delicata Squash Sandwich

We also ordered the Roasted Delicata Squash sandwich, and surprisingly, this ended up being my favorite bite of the meal.

The squash paired perfectly with cheese, caramelized onions, and pickled peppers. The combination of sweet, savory, and tangy flavors made the sandwich incredibly memorable.

Rotisserie Chicken Sandwich

The third sandwich we shared was the Rotisserie Chicken.

It was loaded with juicy chicken, thick-cut bacon, avocado, green tomato, and dijonnaise. The creamy avocado and sauce tied everything together, making this another great option from the menu.

Kouign-Amann

Harris insisted we couldn’t leave without trying some pastries — and he was absolutely right.

The Kouign-Amann was buttery, flaky, and caramelized in all the right ways. It was my first time trying one, and it immediately made me wonder where I could find something similar back near Baltimore.

Glazed Cruller

We also shared a Glazed Cruller, which had that perfect airy texture with a sugary glaze that made it impossible to stop eating.

Between the pastries and the sandwiches, this meal completely lived up to the hype.
