Chuck’s Trading Post Hampden Review: A Must-Visit Baltimore Brunch Spot

If someone tells me they know a place serving great egg dishes, there’s a very good chance I’ll be heading there soon.

For months, photos of the egg skillets at Chuck’s Trading Post in Hampden kept popping up on my Instagram feed. The dishes looked incredible, and I knew I had to try them for myself.

On a recent Saturday morning, I had to run an errand in Hampden, which made it the perfect excuse to finally stop in and see if this popular brunch spot lived up to the hype.

Chuck’s Trading Post

A Neighborhood Favorite in Hampden

Chuck’s Trading Post has become a well-known spot for brunch in Hampden, one of Baltimore’s most vibrant neighborhoods. The restaurant offers a cozy atmosphere and a menu packed with hearty breakfast dishes.

If you’re exploring Baltimore restaurants for brunch, this is definitely a place worth adding to your list.

Starting the Morning with Iced Coffee

I kicked off the morning with an iced coffee, which gave me the caffeine boost I needed to get my day started.

While it wasn’t anything particularly fancy, it did exactly what I needed it to do—wake me up and get me ready to tackle brunch.

The Rancheros Skillet

The menu at Chuck’s Trading Post features eight different skillet options, or you can choose to build your own.

Normally I’m drawn to the build-your-own option so I can customize everything, but the Rancheros Skillet immediately caught my attention.

This skillet includes:

  • Hash

  • Black beans

  • Salsa

  • Avocado

  • Sour cream

  • A quesadilla

  • Lime

  • Two sunny-side-up eggs

First of all, this dish is massive. It’s definitely the kind of brunch you might want to share—or be prepared to take home leftovers.

What I loved most about the dish was the quesadilla. It was perfect for dipping into the runny egg yolk, which added richness to every bite. The combination of ingredients brought together all the Southwestern and Mexican-inspired flavors that I love.

This is absolutely something I’ll be ordering again the next time I visit.
