Casual Dining at Little Havana: Flavorful Dishes Await

After an afternoon at the Tiki Barge, my friends and I were in the mood for something casual — a place where we could eat outside, enjoy a few drinks, and ideally, grab some flavorful food. Since Blue Agave wasn’t an option and Banditos was a bit too much of a bar vibe, we decided to try Little Havana, just a block away on Key Highway.

We began our meal by sharing an order of the Bison Tacos. These came stuffed with seasoned meat, grilled peppers, onions, and avocado in a warm flour tortilla. The tacos were good, though nothing particularly memorable.

Next up was the Queso Dip with tortilla chips. The white cheddar queso was creamy, but I found myself wishing it had just a bit more punch in flavor.

One of my friends ordered the Carne Tacos, served with steak, chopped onions, cilantro, and a side of rice. These were definitely the star tacos of the evening — flavorful, juicy, and well-seasoned. I tried a bite and preferred them over the bison tacos by far.

Two of my other friends split the Quesadilla Chicharron de Pollo, which featured chicken, cheese, pineapple, and onions. They loved the touch of sweetness from the pineapple, which made this dish stand out.

Quesadilla Chicharron de Pollo

I decided on the Bocadilla de Pollo, a marinated chicken sandwich packed with flavor. The garlic mojo sauce gave the chicken a delicious kick, and it was topped with spinach, avocado, pico de gallo, and garlic aioli. It was easily my favorite dish of the night.

The sandwich came with a side of Sweet Potato Fries — crispy, tasty, but nothing too special.

When I’m craving Cuban-inspired comfort food in Federal Hill, Little Havana always hits the spot. The casual atmosphere, waterfront views, and flavorful dishes make it a great spot for an easy-going meal with friends.
