The bar scene in Federal Hill can be a bit of a whirlwind. Within just a few blocks, you’ve got your pick of sports bars, local hangouts, and places where the beer is always cold and the crowd is always lively. But if you’re looking for a spot with hearty bar food, a solid beer list, and a fun game-day atmosphere, MaGerk’s is a reliable go-to.
And if you’re an Ohio State or Eagles fan? You’ll feel right at home here — the sports energy is real.
One of my friends can’t resist ordering onion rings, and honestly, neither can I. At MaGerk’s, the Onion Rings came out crispy and golden, paired with a side of chipotle sauce that added just the right amount of smoky heat. Definitely worth ordering.
We also got an order of Tater Tots, served with cheese and hot sauce on the side. They were classic bar tots — salty, crunchy, and perfect for sharing, though nothing particularly standout.
We had high hopes for the Eagle Wings, but unfortunately, they were a bit of a letdown. The wings came out on the dry side and could’ve used a lot more sauce. If you’re craving wings in Federal Hill, I’d skip these and save room for something better on the menu.
Where MaGerk’s really shines is with their cheesesteaks — and anything inspired by them.
The Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak Eggrolls were a total hit. Perfectly crispy, not greasy, and packed with buffalo chicken, onions, and cheese. We ordered them with medium heat, and they had just the right kick.
And of course, we had to try the Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak itself. It was huge, cheesy, and bursting with flavor — basically everything you want in a comfort food sandwich. You can choose your heat level (mild, medium, or hot), so it’s easy to customize.
Next time I’m at MaGerk’s for an OSU game or just hanging out with friends, I’ll be skipping the wings and going straight for another cheesesteak — or those eggrolls.
MaGerk’s is located at 1061 South Charles Street, Baltimore
