When one of my friends suggests dinner, it usually means I’m heading out to White Marsh — her side of town. On this particular night, I was craving sushi, while the rest of the group was in the mood for Chinese. We wanted somewhere casual but good, and Chopstix came up as the perfect middle ground. It’s conveniently located right across the street from one of my Baltimore County favorites, R&R Taqueria.
We began with a few appetizers to warm up on what turned out to be a chilly evening. One friend ordered the Chicken and Corn Soup, which was similar to egg drop soup but with a creamy texture and sweet pops of corn. It came out piping hot and hit the spot.
Another friend went with the Vegetable Egg Rolls — crisp but not greasy, filled with plenty of shredded vegetables and paired with a simple dipping sauce.
For my starter, I chose the Hot and Sour Soup. It had a rich, slightly thick broth and was packed with veggies. I was expecting more spice (it was marked with a chili pepper on the menu), but even without the heat, it was still flavorful and satisfying.
My friends opted for classic Chinese dishes. One ordered the Steamed Shrimp with Garden Vegetables, which came with a side of brown sauce for tossing. The shrimp and veggies were fresh, light, and perfectly cooked — a simple, healthy option.
Another friend ordered Chicken and String Beans, another dish marked as spicy that didn’t quite deliver heat-wise but still had great flavor and texture. A solid, familiar favorite.
Meanwhile, I stuck with my go-to: a Spicy Tuna Roll with Avocado. The fish was fresh, the roll well-balanced, and the avocado added just the right creamy touch. While it’s not on the same level as some of my favorite dedicated sushi spots, it was fresh, filling, and definitely worth ordering.
If you’re craving Chinese comfort food or fresh sushi in Baltimore County, Chopstix is a solid pick — perfect for mixed cravings and group dinners.
Chopstix is located at 5002 Honeygo Center Dr., in Baltimore County.
