Brunch at Sláinte Irish Pub in Fells Point

I met up with a few college friends for brunch in Fells Point, and after some debate, we decided to try Sláinte Irish Pub. The restaurant had been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, and since I’m a sucker for a good corned beef hash, I figured an Irish pub was the perfect place to find one.

We grabbed a table and decided to kick things off with an order of Soft Pretzels—a must whenever one of my friends spots them on a menu. Unfortunately, these didn’t quite hit the mark. They were missing salt, which, in my opinion, is half the fun of eating a pretzel. Luckily, there’s a soft pretzel stand right outside in Fells Point, so my friend was able to satisfy her craving afterward.

One of my friends went the simple route and ordered a Grilled Cheese. The bread was crisp, the cheese was perfectly melted, and while it wasn’t the most adventurous brunch pick, sometimes you just need classic comfort food—and this hit the spot.

Another friend ordered the Irish Pancakes, which turned out to be three large potato pancakes topped with herb sour cream and served with potatoes and sausage. I love potato pancakes, but I wished these were a little crispier. The sour cream, though, was the perfect touch. My friend really enjoyed the dish, and that’s what matters most!

Of course, I couldn’t resist ordering the Corned Beef Hash, the dish that brought us here in the first place. It came piled high with tender corned beef brisket, potatoes, onions, peppers, and two perfectly cooked over-easy eggs. The yolk mixed beautifully with the salty, savory hash—absolutely delicious. I’d put it right up there with my favorite version from Woodberry Kitchen.
