The 5 Best Burgers in Baltimore (According to Me!)
Hamburgers are one of those truly American foods — simple, comforting, and found on just about every restaurant menu. But let’s be honest: not all burgers are created equal. Some are just filler on a menu, while others are juicy, flavorful masterpieces that you dream about later.
For me, a great burger checks all the boxes:
✅ A bun sturdy enough to hold everything together
✅ A juicy, perfectly cooked patty
✅ Toppings that actually enhance the flavor
So, without further ado, here are my five favorite burgers in Baltimore — in no particular order.
Crosstown Burger – Hamilton Tavern
Located in (you guessed it) Hamilton, this tavern has a well-earned reputation for serving one of the best burgers in Baltimore. The Crosstown Burger comes topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, and horseradish cheddar, but the real star is the sticky spicy bacon. It adds just the right mix of heat and sweetness — skip it, and you’re missing out on the magic.
Hamilton Tavern – 5517 Harford Rd, Baltimore
Farmhouse Lamb Burger – Kooper’s Tavern
Over in Fells Point, Kooper’s Tavern is known for its customizable burger menu, but I always stick with the Farmhouse Lamb Burger. The lamb patty is topped with garlic-herbed butter, feta cheese, and truffle arugula — a rich, flavorful combo that keeps me coming back. It’s easily my go-to burger in Fells.
Kooper’s Tavern – 1702 Thames St, Baltimore
The Smoke Burger – Alewife
Alewife, recently featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives, serves up a burger that definitely deserves the spotlight. The Smoke Burger comes loaded with smoked gouda, gruyere, bacon, caramelized onions, and chipotle aioli. It’s smoky, savory, and just the right amount of indulgent. Guy Fieri missed this one, but you shouldn’t.
Alewife – 21 N Eutaw St, Baltimore
French Quarter Burger – The Owl Bar
Inside the historic Owl Bar in Mount Vernon, you’ll find one of my favorite burgers in the city. The French Quarter Burger features a juicy patty topped with port wine onions, goat cheese, lettuce, and tomato, all tucked inside a soft pretzel roll. It strikes that perfect balance between tangy and sweet — and it’s easy enough to actually take a bite without dislocating your jaw.
📍 The Owl Bar – 1 E Chase St, Baltimore
Bordeaux Burger – Myth and Moonshine
In Canton, Myth and Moonshine serves up the Bordeaux Burger, seared in a cast iron skillet for that perfect crust while staying juicy inside. It’s topped with cheddar jack cheese, tomato, and southern slaw for an addictive crunch. Every bite just works — messy in the best possible way.
Myth and Moonshine – 2300 Boston St, Baltimore
