I’ve been hearing buzz about Verde in Canton for a while now, but whenever I’m craving Neapolitan-style pizza, Hersh’s, which is literally around the corner, has always been my fallback. It’s familiar, reliable, and I already love it. But on a night when I was already headed into Canton with a friend, I decided it was time to finally give Verde a try.
From the moment you step inside, Verde gives off a rustic, warm, and cozy vibe. It’s low-key yet intimate — perfect for a casual date night or just a relaxed pizza dinner with friends.
One thing that caught my eye immediately: the menu includes gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options — a big plus if your group has dietary preferences or restrictions.
We couldn’t resist ordering the Pane — homemade, wood-fired bread served with extra-virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar. It arrived warm and fragrant, with a crisp crust and tender interior. A simple but satisfying way to kick things off.
My friend opted for the Margherita Pizza: a 10-inch pie with homemade mozzarella and pecorino romano. She enjoyed it so much that she brought home leftovers.
I wanted something with eggplant but, since Verde doesn’t allow substitutions, I went with the Funghi di Bosco Pizza instead. It came topped with wild mushrooms, mozzarella, and pecorino romano. I added crushed red pepper and the waiter even brought a crushed red pepper olive oil for dipping. It elevated every bite — crust, sauce, and topping all working in harmony.
