Fells Point

Sushi Night at Nanami Cafe Baltimore

While Chiyo Sushi has long been my go-to sushi spot uptown, Nanami Cafe has become my favorite place to grab sushi downtown. Located right along the water in Fells Point, it’s one of those restaurants I return to again and again when I’m craving fresh fish and well-executed rolls. On a recent visit, my girlfriend and I stopped in for dinner and were reminded why we love this place so much — every bite was fantastic.

Being right in the heart of Fells Point makes Nanami an easy stop after walking around the neighborhood or meeting friends for dinner. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the menu has plenty of sushi options to explore.

Sashimi Roll

We started the meal with one of my longtime favorites on the menu, the Sashimi Roll. This roll features fresh salmon wrapped in cucumber with avocado and a creamy wasabi sauce on top. The sauce adds just a touch of heat, while the cucumber keeps the roll feeling light and refreshing. It’s always one of the first things I look for on the menu.

Josh Roll

Next up was the Josh Roll — and while I have no idea who Josh is, I’m very glad he exists. The combination of yellowtail and cucumber topped with avocado and hot sauce somehow hits the perfect balance of richness and spice. It’s one of those rolls that I end up ordering almost every time I visit.

Lee Roll and Mark Roll

We also ordered both the Lee Roll and the Mark Roll during this visit, and like everything else on the menu, they didn’t disappoint. Honestly, it’s hard to go wrong with any of the rolls here. The ingredients are consistently fresh and the combinations are simple but satisfying.

Salmon Sashimi

Because the fish at Nanami is always so fresh, I can’t leave without ordering the Salmon Sashimi. The slices are thick, buttery, and practically melt in your mouth. For me, this is always the highlight of the meal.
