Lately I’ve been on a bit of a lobster roll kick. When the craving hits, it’s hard to think about anything else until there’s a buttery roll filled with lobster in front of me. There was one Baltimore seafood institution I still needed to check off my list though, so I headed over to Thames Street Oyster House in Fells Point to finally try their famous lobster roll.
Thames Street Oyster House
Located right in the heart of the historic Fell’s Point neighborhood, Thames Street Oyster House has built a reputation as one of Baltimore’s go-to seafood spots. The cozy restaurant sits just steps from the waterfront and always seems busy with locals and visitors alike.

The Lobster Roll
I went with a friend who is a longtime fan of Thames Street Oyster House, and she immediately suggested that we each order our own Lobster Roll because, according to her, it’s “the best in Baltimore.” I’m definitely not one to argue with a statement like that, so we each ordered one.
The roll arrived perfectly toasted and buttery without being soggy, which is exactly what you want in a lobster roll. Inside was a generous amount of hot lobster tail and claw meat, piled high and incredibly satisfying. It was one of those meals where you’re genuinely disappointed when you realize the last bite is coming up.
The lobster roll also came with a side of fries, which were crispy and well seasoned — the perfect companion to the rich lobster.

Lobster Roll
Thames Street has a great lobster roll and I can’t wait to go back and try some of the other yummy seafood dishes on their menu.
